St. Kilian Catholic Church
2016 Parish General Meeting Report
On Sunday, July 17, 2016 the St. Kilian’s parish held a general meeting in Hughes Hall. The meeting opened with a prayer by Father Paul Vu. After the pasta dinner, Father Pat Rudolph told the attendees about his childhood and how he became a priest. This was followed by the introduction of the members of the Pastoral Council and a presentation by various parishioners demonstrating how they show mercy in action through various parish ministries.
The evening included small group discussions. In the small groups parishioners were asked two questions: “What do you love about St. Kilian’s?” and “What do you hope for St. Kilian’s?”. Each group’s responses were recorded and discussed at the August Pastoral Council meeting. To help identify trends, the responses were sorted by topics and the most common theme(s) within each topic were identified. A brief summary of those common themes is listed below.
Encourage more young families to become part of our parish
Welcome visitors/new comers to our church before Mass
Education and Formation
We love the RCIA program.
We are interested in more speakers in a variety of topics.
Eucharist and Sacramental Life
We love how frequently we have Masses.
We hope we’ll use the time before and after Mass as a time for reverence.
Lay and Ordained Leadership
The clergy are very friendly and personable.
There are so many ministries, there is something for everyone.
We hope we can help publicize the great work our ministries are doing.
We are proud of the diversity within our parish.
We love the people in our parish.
Our parish is very welcoming.
Plant and Facilities
Our new church is beautiful.
We love seeing young people involved in our parish.
We hope that we can find ways to increase youth involvement at St. Kilians.
