A Brief Overview of the RE Programs

Sacramental Preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion

Preparation begins in 1st grade (or any grade after) and is generally a two year process. Children must be baptized before they can receive Reconciliation/Confession and Eucharist/Communion.  Regular attendance is especially important. Two mandatory parent meetings will provide information and materials to enable the whole family to be a part of this preparation.

Continuing Religious Education

Classes are offered for baptized children.  Grades 1 – 4 meet once a week. Grades 5 – 8 meet twice a month. Classes are held on site, after school from October – May.  Students participate in music, prayer, scripture reading, discussion, service projects and liturgical celebrations.

Independent Study / Faith and Fun for Catholic Families

Independent Study classes are offered for parents who are not able to bring their child to class at the time offered.  Students work on their book at home and meet with the RE Director twice a year to review material.  Parents are asked to attend Faith and Fun for Catholic Families for support and fellowship.

The Faith and Fun activities provide a chance for children and their parents to gather once a month for discussions and crafts centered around special beliefs and traditions of or Catholic Faith.

This program is available to students that are developmentally disabled. Our Volunteer Catechists have experience working with Special Needs children and are able to assist these children and teens in their faith journey.  Classes focus on their specific needs and encourages them to explore their faith through gospel lessons, crafts and activities.  This class prepares participants for sacraments and ongoing faith formation.
