Confirmation 2 is the second half of the formation process in preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Those preparing will attend preparation sessions that will empower them to become Disciples and live out their faith after being Confirmed. We begin at 3:30pm in Hughes Hall with teens gathering in their small groups to start the session and finish up in time to go to the 5pm Mass together. In the second year, the candidates will see their faith strengthened and the Church’s teachings become alive in their hearts as they begin specific preparations for the Sacrament of Confirmation, building on the foundational discipleship practices of Year 1.
In addition to the preparation sessions, the candidates will participate in other required activities that will provide them a chance to encounter Christ in themselves and others while they put what they’ve learned into action. These activities help them participate in their community, partake in the mission of our Church, retreat to draw nearer to God, learn about our example through the Saints, and be accompanied by a mentor to demonstrate the life of discipleship. Through the wisdom of our Pastor, these sessions and requirements are used to prepare our youth to receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please see below for more details.
The Schedule for the 2026-27 Confirmation 2 sessions is now available. Please contact Nathan Hernandez Johnson, the Director of Youth Ministry, at 949-586-7803 or njohnson@stkilianchurch.org with questions.
The payment link below is set up to receive one payment online. If you wish to pay by cash or check, or if you would like to arrange a payment plan, please call our Parish Office to set up a payment plan at 949-586-4440. Thank you!
Missed Sessions
Any missed session will require an at-home make-up assignment. If sessions beyond the permitted amount are missed, a meeting with Fr. Angelos will be required to discuss make-ups, program requirements, and continued participation. If too many preparatory sessions are missed, for any reason, the candidate may be asked to restart the program the following year due to inadequate preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

SKY stands for “St. Kilian youth” and is our parish high school ministry for teens in 9th-12th grade. Our ministry includes, but is not limited to, our Confirmation program and provides a multitude of opportunities for teens to encounter Christ and grow as disciples. Recent studies show that teens involved in a faith community demonstrate higher levels of flourishing and resilience and those that participate in youth ministry are more likely to continue practicing their Catholic faith. Our parish puts a lot of effort into providing our teens a place where they can be themselves and encounter Christ as He tells us “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” Matthew 18:20.
Details about the other offerings of SKY can be found on the Youth Ministry page by clicking here.

All Confirmation candidates will be expected to attend the 5:00pm Youth Mass on the Sundays we have a preparation session. Participation in Mass is considered part of the session.
Families of the candidates are encouraged to attend Mass with us!

Service is an important part of our faith and teens in the Confirmation program will have many opportunities to volunteer for various parish events. While they are required to serve at one service event per year, they’re welcome to serve as often as they’d like. This can also count as service hours for other extracurriculars like their school, scouts, clubs etc. Our Lord reminds us that “our light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father“ Matthew 5:16. Opportunities to serve at St. Kilian for our youth include Oktoberfest, Trunk-r-Treat, Christmas Tree Lighting, Fish Fry, Youth Ministry See’s Candy Fundraiser, VBS, Singing in the Youth Band at 5pm Mass, serving as Altar Servers and , and more.

Retreat is an awesome and necessary experience in the life of a young Catholic. Our Bishops have prioritized it as a requirement to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation because of its powerful effect on the youth’s faith. Retreat is a time to escape the business of life to make time to focus on our relationship with Jesus Christ. Teens on retreat enjoy fun events like hikes in the woods, competitive games, praise and worship music, fun with their newfound friends, and so much more. This is the highlight of their Confirmation journey and for many, the moment they truly commit their life to Jesus.
This year’s Retreat is February 5th-7th. Parents and Teens will check in on Thursday, February 4th between 6pm and 8pm at St. Kilian with their luggage for tagging and room assignment, to verify paperwork, and address any questions with our Youth Ministers.
On Friday February 5th, arrive at Church at 5pm for dinner in the Hall and to depart on the bus.
On Sunday we will finish our retreat and return in the afternoon (time dependent on traffic conditions). Donations of snacks are always appreciated for retreat!

At the Confirmation Mass when the Sacrament is being given by the Bishop, a Sponsor will accompany each teen validating their faith and readiness. Likewise throughout their second year of Confirmation sponsors should be praying for their teen, meeting with them to discuss their experience, and share their life in Christ.
To be a sponsor, one must be at least 16 years old, a practicing Catholic, have received all Sacraments of Initiation, and be certified by their home parish as qualified to accept the role. Parents can not be a Sponsor for their child.
At our session in November, how to choose a Sponsor will be discussed and a Sponsor Form will be sent home and returned to us to accomplish this.

A letter to the Bishop offers a monumental moment for a young person to express who Christ is to them and why they desire this final Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. This is a great opportunity for reflection on their faith journey. The Bishop enjoys hearing from the youth of the Church and reads each letter thoroughly, sometimes referencing them at the Confirmation Mass. Please don’t view these as a homework assignment to rush through, but a chance to personally express to a leader of our Church how you’ve grown closer to Christ in the last two years. These will be due at a date TBD prior to the Confirmation Mass.

At the Confirmation Mass, teens who are ready to receive the Sacrament will be confirmed by the Bishop using the name of a Saint they choose. To help them select a Saint they can rely on in their faith journey, they will research and write a report on the one they wish to be their Confirmation Saint. This project allows them to learn about that Saint’s journey, how God led them to live out His plan for their life, and then how the student can draw inspiration from the saint in their own life.
At our session in November, how to choose a patron Saint will be discussed and report instructions will be sent home and returned to us to accomplish this.
