Guadalupan Jubilee Year
Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a Special Guadalupan Jubilee Year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City and the transfer of St. Juan Diego’s sacred tilma (cloak) to the present-day basilica. The jubilee also commemorates the 131st anniversary of the pontifical coronation of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1895. This special Jubilee Year began on October 12, 2026, and will conclude on October 12, 2027.
In recognition of this special occasion, Bishop Kevin Vann has designated five pilgrimage sites within the Diocese of Orange where the faithful may obtain a plenary indulgence, provided they fulfill the prescribed conditions established by the Church.
The five designated pilgrimage sites are:
Christ Cathedral — Garden Grove
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano — San Juan Capistrano
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (Delhi) — Santa Ana
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church — La Habra
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church — Santa Ana
Please see the attached memorandum for additional information, including the requirements for obtaining a plenary indulgence and the weekday and weekend Mass schedules and confession times at each pilgrimage site.
May this Jubilee Year be a time of renewed faith and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, as we seek her intercession and grow closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.
